Ignis has completed the sale of a 656MW portfolio of renewable energy projects in Italy to flyRen Energy Group, which is backed by Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners II, a British investment fund.

The portfolio comprises 28 projects at different stages of development across several Italian regions, spanning solar photovoltaic (PV), battery-hybrid and wind energy assets. The transaction marks the culmination of several years of development, land management, permitting and technical work by Ignis’s Italian team.

Asset rotation supports further Italian growth

The sale forms part of Ignis’s asset rotation strategy, enabling the company to realise value from its development activities while creating opportunities to reinvest in further projects. Italy remains a strategic market for the business, where it continues to pursue renewable generation and energy storage developments.

Ignis is also advancing a portfolio of large-scale data centre projects in the country as it seeks to broaden its presence across the energy sector.

Mafalda Palacios de A. e A., country manager for Ignis Italy, said: “We have developed a large-scale project portfolio over several years, and this transaction allows us to realise the value of that work while continuing to grow in the country.”

    Integrated energy model in development

Looking ahead, Ignis plans to expand its Italian team and operations, moving towards an integrated business model that brings together renewable generation, grid access, energy storage and energy solutions for large consumers.

The strategy reflects the growing importance of combining generation and flexibility assets with infrastructure capable of meeting the energy demands of industrial users and data centres.

ValeCap acted as financial adviser to Ignis on the transaction, with Green Horse Legal Advisory and DWF providing legal advice.
