UK independent power producer Enviromena has acquired the 18.1MWp Hebden Green solar project in Winsford, Cheshire, from developer Anglo Renewables, strengthening its pipeline of subsidy-backed renewable energy assets.
The transaction marks the second deal between the two companies, following Enviromena’s acquisition of the Rock Farm solar project in Shropshire in summer 2025.
Hebden Green has secured planning consent and a Contract for Difference (CfD) through Allocation Round 7 (AR7). Energisation is expected towards the end of 2027, with the project adding to Enviromena’s growing portfolio of solar assets that it intends to own and operate.
Once operational, the solar farm is expected to generate approximately 17,500MWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the needs of more than 6,000 homes.
Project development and community benefits
The development will be built on Grade 4 agricultural land and is expected to deliver ecological improvements alongside renewable electricity generation. A community benefit fund will also support local initiatives.
The acquisition follows progress at Rock Farm, where construction is nearing completion ahead of energisation. Enviromena is also engaging with the local community on how the project’s community benefit fund will be deployed.
Lee Adams, chief commercial officer at Enviromena, said: “We highly value the relationship we’ve built with Anglo Renewables through the acquisition and delivery of Rock Farm, and we’re delighted to be continuing that partnership through Hebden Green.
“Hebden Green is a high-quality, well-developed project that further strengthens our construction pipeline for 2027 and supports our continued growth as an owner and operator of solar assets across the UK.”
“We look forward to bringing the project into construction and delivering both clean energy and lasting benefits for the local community.”
James Stone, managing director of Anglo Renewables, said: “We’re delighted to complete the sale of Hebden Green to Enviromena, building on the success of our partnership on the Rock Farm project.
“We look forward to seeing Hebden Green progress into construction and deliver benefits through the generation of clean, renewable energy.”
Expanding its UK solar portfolio
Hebden Green will join Enviromena’s expanding portfolio of CfD-backed solar projects, alongside sites it has developed itself that are currently under construction.
The acquisition reflects the continued role of project sales in the UK renewables market, allowing developers to realise value from consented projects while enabling established independent power producers to expand their asset portfolios and progress developments towards construction and operation.
With Rock Farm nearing completion and Hebden Green scheduled to be energised in 2027, the latest deal reinforces Enviromena’s strategy of building its position as a long-term owner and operator of UK solar infrastructure.
