Plans to erect a power cable facility in Scotland, United Kingdom, were made public by Sumitomo Electric Industries.
In order to meet the rising demand for premium wires in the area, the company chose to build a factory in the Scottish Highlands, it claimed.
The UK is anticipated to be one of the greatest markets for power cables as the nation is constructing a lot of offshore wind power projects, according to the company renewable energy and interconnectors are driving demand for them.
2019 saw the successful delivery by Sumitomo Electric of its cross-linked polyethylene-insulated (XLPE) high-voltage direct current (HVDC) undersea cable system for the UK-Belgium interconnector (NEMO Link).
According to Sumitomo Electric, the 400kV HVDC XLPE wire has the highest voltage in commercial operation to date.
