RWE has been awarded a contract to build 20 MW of wind energy capacity close to Ravensburg in southern Germany.
Forst Baden-Württemberg municipality granted the tender to the developer (ForstBW).
The sites are around 40 kilometres away in Leutkirch im Allgäu.
Julia Wolf, responsible for the development of RWE wind farms in southern Germany, said: “We are delighted with the award of the contract by ForstBW and will now start planning.
“For the success of the energy transition, we need the rapid expansion of renewable energy.
“Provided the green light is given for nature and species protection, forest areas such as here in Leutkirch also offer great potential for wind power.”
In Germany, RWE manages over 90 onshore wind farms.
