Rovco and Vaarst aim to hire 150 employees by 2025

Rovco and Vaarst plan to hire more than 150 specialized positions across their offices in Bristol, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh in the UK by the end of 2025. This recruitment drive aims to support their expansion and the advancement of advanced technology solutions, leveraging AI, automation, and machine learning to facilitate the energy transition and maintain competitiveness in offshore wind.

According to the companies, this influx of talent will play a crucial role in driving innovation within the green subsea industry and accelerating the transition to renewable energy. Additionally, 50 of these roles will be within Vaarst, Rovco’s sister company established in 2021.

The Bristol headquarters will host specialized tech roles focusing on machine learning, computer vision autonomy, data, AI, and robotics software engineering, contributing to cutting-edge developments in the sector.

In Scotland, over 100 positions will be available, primarily in Rovco’s hydrographic division, which encompasses activities such as wind farm planning surveys, seabed mapping, and UXO surveys. Recruitment efforts will span various areas including surveying, engineering, data processing, and project management.

The majority of these roles will be onshore and concentrated in Aberdeen, targeting mid to senior-level positions, while opportunities will also be accessible at the company’s Edinburgh office.

Brian Allen, Rovco & Vaarst chief executive, said “Technology will be vital in improving the economics of offshore wind and accelerating the energy transition. High-tech solutions will both support existing jobs in the sector and create new ones, all while reducing operational timelines and costs.”

“We’re looking for people who are passionate about technology for good and can help us on our mission to change the economics of offshore wind.”

This recruitment initiative is a component of Rovco and Vaarst’s larger strategy for worldwide growth. In the initial months of 2024, the companies have already filled approximately 30 positions in their Bristol and Aberdeen offices.

Their objective is to onboard approximately 200 new employees globally by the conclusion of 2025, including 25 in the United States to bolster recent partnerships with major industry players like Orsted, as well as 10 in Asia. Additionally, they plan to inaugurate several new offices across European and Asian territories.
