Renewable energy developer Q Energy will begin constructing 320MW of its total 15GW project pipeline in Europe between 2023 and 2024. These projects, comprising wind and solar installations, will all be located in France.
Q Energy has already initiated the construction of six new projects totaling 120MW in France during the first quarter of 2023. One notable project is the Souleilla wind farm repowering initiative in the Occitanie region, which is the company’s first venture of this kind and is scheduled for completion in autumn 2023 with a capacity of 24MW.
Furthermore, Q Energy is currently building two wind farms, namely Croix de Bertault and Croix de l’Erable, as well as a solar power plant called Sablé Rouge in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region. Combined, these projects will have a capacity of 42MW.
With the addition of these three projects to its existing commissioned portfolio in the region, Q Energy’s installed capacity in Nouvelle Aquitaine will reach 85MW.
Q Energy’s Le Langrois wind project, an extension of the Langres Sud wind farm, is located in the Grand Est region and has been operational since 2010, generating 24MW of electricity.
In the Pays de la Loire region, Q Energy has entered into a corporate power purchase agreement (cPPA) with the Les Mousquetaires group for the Chaume Solar project, which has a capacity of 29MW.
Recently, Q Energy sold three projects—Croix de l’Erable, Croix de Bertault, and Le Langrois—to Octopus Energy Generation, with a combined capacity of 49MW.
Looking ahead, in the latter half of 2023 and early 2024, Q Energy plans to progressively commence the construction of an additional 200MW portfolio, encompassing various types of projects.
This includes PV power plants on polluted areas, the largest floating PV project in France, additional wind repowering projects, and the company’s inaugural energy storage project.
