Polish solar developer acquired by RWE

With the acquisition of the Polish solar project developer Alpha Solar, RWE now owns a pipeline of 3000MW projects.

With a Warsaw headquarters and three local offices in Inowrocaw, ód, and Rzeszów, Alpha Solar has experience in all phases of development, from site acquisition to building preparedness, according to RWE.

It will seek to deliver the solar projects now in the pipeline as well as create new ones as part of RWE.

Additionally, the Polish developer is supported by a group of about 60 industry experts.

The bulk of solar sites are utility-scale and are in various stages of development, from early-stage potential to projects that are ready to be built.

The 3GW portfolio is expected to increase the German developer’s current 10GW global pipeline of solar projects.

According to RWE, it was agreed to maintain the acquisition price’s secrecy.

In addition to its recently acquired pipeline, it noted that during 2022 and 2023 it also intended to construct and put into service new PV projects in Poland with a capacity of about 70 MW.

Katja Wünschel, RWE’s CEO of Onshore Wind and PV Europe & Australia said “This acquisition represents an excellent opportunity for RWE to diversify our global solar footprint, while further enhancing our local capabilities and renewables project pipeline in Poland.”

“The country offers good locations for solar plants. We warmly welcome our new colleagues at RWE.”

“Together with the existing team we are well positioned to implement this large-scale project pipeline in the years to come.”
