OX2 has handed over a 132MW wind farm in Finland

Lundin Energy and Sval Energi, two Nordic energy businesses, have taken over the 132MW Metsalamminkangas wind farm from OX2.

Metsalamminkangas is Finland’s third largest wind farm, with 24 GE Cypress 5.5MW turbines installed.

In January 2020, OX2 and Lundin Energy agreed to build the project in the municipality of Vaala, North Ostrobothnia. During the wind farm’s construction, Sval Energi became a co-owner.

On March 31, Metsalamminkangas was handed over to the clients.

According to OX2, the wind farm’s yearly energy production is 400 gigawatt-hours, which is enough to power more than 80,000 homes for a year.

“Finland is the fastest growing market for wind power in Europe and we are proud to hand over the third largest wind farm and our largest completed project in the country.” said OX2 CEO Paul Stormoen.

Metsalamminkangas was conceived and built by OX2 under an engineering, procurement, and construction deal, and the company will continue to manage the wind farm’s technical and commercial aspects.
