    OWC Australian country manager appointed

Damien Pasco has been chosen as the country manager for Australia and New Zealand by OWC, an international renewable energy consultancy.

In his role, Pasco will be responsible for assisting both countries in achieving their renewable energy goals and ambitions.

Katherine Phillips, OWC managing director, said “Damien brings extensive expertise in mature and maturing offshore wind markets, such as the US, Taiwan and South Korea, to best support the growth and expansion in Australia and New Zealand.”

“We believe his competence and experience will proveĀ invaluableĀ to developers here.”

Pasco’s most recent position was as a principal project manager at Longitude Engineering’s Singapore office, which is a sister company to OWC.

In this role, he led consultant teams in conducting extensive technical due diligences, early-stage studies, and pre-FEED studies. These skills are highly sought after, particularly in the initial phases of Australian renewable energy projects.

Previously, Pasco has held managerial roles at both an offshore vessel owner and an energy project developer.

According to estimates by the Global Wind Energy Council, Australia has the potential to generate up to 5000GW of electricity from offshore wind, utilizing a combination of fixed and floating infrastructure.

On the other hand, New Zealand already obtains 80% of its electricity from renewable sources, demonstrating its commitment to decarbonisation.

As New Zealand aims to decarbonise the final percent of its energy generation, it is expected to face substantial challenges, serving as an important example to other countries seeking to achieve similar renewable energy goals.

Pasco said “Australia and New Zealand are key markets for OWC due to their exceptional resources and mature renewable and energy markets.”

“I am excited to lead and grow our team here, supporting developers, investors and other stakeholders to bring new and challenging renewable projects to fruition.”
