Nexans successfully finishes the installation of the export cable pull-in for the Moray West project

Nexans has successfully concluded the offshore export cable pull-ins for both offshore substation platforms (OSPs) at Ocean Winds’ Moray West wind farm in Scotland, totalling 882MW. The cable laying vessel, Nexans Aurora, took advantage of a recent favourable weather window to complete this crucial task.

This achievement represents a significant milestone for the project, and the OSP commissioning teams are currently engaged in cable terminations. According to a social media post from Ocean Winds, the next phase involves energizing the first circuit.

The OSPs were initially installed in February of this year, with Harlyn Solutions facilitating their transport from the Tyne of Newcastle to the Port of Nigg in Scotland.

The wind farm project plans to deploy 60 Siemens Gamesa 14MW turbines, mounted on XXL monopiles. Notably, over half of the project’s generated power is destined for Amazon through a corporate power purchase agreement.
