Neoen secures 119 megawatts for solar farms in France

In the recent tender organized by the French government’s Energy Regulation Commission, Neoen has secured 119 megawatts for solar projects. Ranking second in capacity awarded during this session, Neoen maintains its leading position in the overall PPE2 call for tenders, totaling 479 megawatts since the initiative began two years ago.

The company collaborated closely with local authorities and stakeholders in the Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and Occitanie regions of France to develop seven projects ranging from 5MW to 30MW. This diverse portfolio showcases Neoen’s proficiency in ground-mounted project development across the country.

The construction of these solar farms, scheduled between 2024 and 2028, will be undertaken by experienced French EPC professionals. Among the winning projects, the 21MW Lapenne array stands out as one of the initial solar agrivoltaic plants in the Ariege department. Integrating sheep farming with renewable electricity production on the same site, the project aims to provide diversified revenue for the farmer.

Annually overseen by the French farming institute IDELE, a long-term partner of Neoen, the Lapenne array represents a sustainable and innovative approach to solar energy development.

Guillaume Decaen, Noel’s French development director said “I congratulate our team for this new success and thank all our stakeholders for their confidence and support.”

“We are proud to be the top awardee in the government calls for tenders launched in December 2021 and a major contributor to the decarbonisation of our country’s electricity.”

Xavier Barbaro, the developer’s chairman and chief executive mentioned “These awards are another demonstration of our ability to develop projects that are both competitive for our clients and value creating for our shareholders.”

“With a total of 119MW in this session, Neoen strengthens its position as number one independent producer of renewable energy in France, a key country for us. Thanks to the quality of our solar, wind and storage projects, we will further accelerate our growth, in France and around the world.”
