Luxcara has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta (Facebook) for a Danish solar portfolio with a total capacity of 210MW.
Following their previous arrangement for the production of the Norwegian wind farms in the Bjerkreim cluster, this is Denmark’s largest solar energy purchase agreement, enhancing the two firms’ continued strategic partnership.
Meta’s agreements with Luxcara in Europe total roughly €1 billion in new renewable energy capacity investment.
Three solar projects are included in the PPA, two in Zealand and one in Jutland.
Meta’s activities in Europe, including its data centre in Odense, Denmark, will be powered by the projects, which will offer sustainable energy.
By 2020, all of Meta’s operations across the world will be powered entirely by renewable energy.
Alexandra von Bernstorff, managing partner of Luxcara, remarked ‘‘We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Meta with this new, highly impactful PPA, and to further demonstrate our expertise in securing long-term, as-produced PPAs in new markets.”
“We look forward to partnering with Meta for many more projects in the future and to drive the energy transition forward jointly.”
