Ib Vogt and Apple have signed a power purchase agreement for a solar project in Spain

Ib Vogt has recently inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Apple, securing solar power from a 134MW project located in Segovia, Spain. This project, known as the Castano solar plant, is part of a trio of projects in the province that Ib Vogt is developing with fixed price PPAs.

The Castano plant is slated for completion by December 2024, with Ib Vogt handling engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and future operations and maintenance (O&M) services.

Notably, Ib Vogt is implementing various conservation measures at the Castano site to uphold environmental preservation. These measures include reforestation efforts, installation of nesting boxes for local birds, and the creation of a protected habitat spanning at least 10 hectares.

Construction activities will be paused during the breeding season to safeguard wildlife, and stringent monitoring will be enforced to mitigate any adverse environmental impacts. Furthermore, the project will employ cutting-edge bifacial solar panels mounted on a single-axis tracker system to optimize energy generation.

Anton Milner, Ib Vogt chief executive “Spain has developed to become a major market for solar PV, with significant opportunities for companies to benefit from low-cost, low carbon solar power.”

โ€œThis PPA is a perfect example, and I would like to thank all involved parties who helped make this a success and especially Apple, who are partnering with us on this project. We have a growing portfolio in Spain with more opportunities for corporate PPAs through our turnkey solar projects.โ€

Ib Vogt has developed over 4.3 gigawatts of photovoltaic power plants worldwide, and currently has a project pipeline exceeding 45GW.
