Green Genius secures €9.5 million financing for its Romanian development

Green Genius, a renewable energy firm that functions across eight European markets, has entered into a €9.5 million financing arrangement with Mundus Bridge Finance, the private debt fund associated with INVL, the prominent investment management and life insurance group in the Baltic region.

“Romania is an important market for Green Genius and for European green transition. We aim to develop and construct 500 MW of renewable energy projects in the coming years in that market” states Rokas Bancevicius, CFO of Green Genius.

In 2020, Green Genius expanded into the Romanian market, establishing an office in Bucharest. The company is actively involved in developing new solar and wind projects from scratch in Romania, and it occasionally explores opportunities for acquiring projects in their early development stages.

Romania’s strategic geographical position, characterized by a high number of sunny days, makes it particularly advantageous for solar photovoltaic initiatives. Furthermore, recent enhancements in the regulatory framework have made the country even more attractive for renewable energy projects, drawing growing interest from global investors.

“Our team has extensive experience in assessing the risk of such projects, as financing renewable energy projects forms part of the fund’s portfolio,” says Viktorija Vaitkeviciene, Head of Mundus, the asset management company that manages the private debt fund Mundus Bridge Finance.
