Enviromena has revealed its plans to initiate the planning process for its 400-megawatt solar project pipeline in the UK. The clean energy company, headquartered in Reading, intends to submit these projects for planning approval within the next six months. Enviromena has recently expressed its commitment to expand its constructed and operational portfolio in the UK to over 500MW by 2025.
The upcoming 400MW projects span locations across the UK, ranging from Dorset to Durham, and are part of a broader pipeline exceeding 1.5 gigawatts. Enviromena’s in-house development team is actively advancing this expanding portfolio.
In addition to the 400MW projects entering the planning phase, Enviromena also has 110MW of solar projects anticipated to complete the planning process by the end of March 2024.
Enviromena’s European Development Director, Mark Harding, commented “This is a significant milestone for us as we push forward in the delivery of these projects. As well as providing cleaner energy, the developments are well-thought out and are designed by our teams to blend in with the landscape and give consideration to local wildlife.”
“Over the coming months we will be continuing our engagement with local people and councillors regarding each of our schemes ensuring that the project designs and plans consider the valuable feedback provided by local communities, ahead of the submission of each planning application.”
“We have seen a number of our sites receive unanimous planning approval from local councils in recent times, which goes to show the eagerness and appetite for clean energy facilities – especially at a time when fuel prices continue to look uncertain.
“Our growing pipeline demonstrates our commitment to delivering high volume clean energy projects to the UK market and the next six months will be hugely exciting for us, as we prepare to submit over 400MW of ground mounted solar projects into planning.
“Once approved and constructed these projects will make a massive contribution to lowering carbon emissions and providing clean energy to tens of thousands of homes.”
Enviromena recently declared that the construction of two additional sites, namely Horsey Levels in Somerset and Kiln Fields in Hampshire, with a combined capacity of 42 megawatts, is nearing completion. These projects are set to be energized in early 2024.
These developments come after the energization of Three Maids Hill in Winchester in late 2022 and the launch of Enviromena’s inaugural solar farm in Wales, Bryngolwg, which became operational in October 2023.
