Development director appointed by Salamander JV

Orsted, Simply Blue Group, and Subsea7 have selected Hugh Yendole as the development director for Salamander, a collaborative floating offshore wind venture situated off the Scottish coast.

With over 25 years of experience in the wind industry, Yendole has played a pivotal role in successfully delivering and overseeing numerous offshore and onshore projects in the UK, Europe, and the US.

Notable examples include Orsted’s projects such as London Array, Burbo and Walney Extensions, and Hornsea 1.

The Salamander floating offshore wind farm, boasting a capacity of 100MW, will be positioned 35km off the shores of Peterhead. In addition to generating clean electricity, Salamander aims to offer valuable insights and establish best practices for future large-scale developments in Scottish waters, anticipating the broader ScotWind expansion.

Hugh Yendole is making this transition from within Orsted, where he remains employed, having dedicated 12 years to various key roles, most recently serving as the director and asset manager for Orsted’s west coast UK offshore wind projects.

Starting at the end of the summer season, Yendole will take on the responsibility of overseeing the project’s comprehensive delivery, handling commercial negotiations, and fostering relationships with stakeholders.

Yendole said “I’m really looking forward to heading Salamander.”

“It is a pioneering stepping-stone project ushering in an exciting new era of possibilities for green energy generation.”

“It’s a privilege to be joining the talented team already supporting this revolutionary project.”

Before Hugh Yendole took on his new role, Salamander was under the interim leadership of Huw Bell, who effectively managed the project during the transition period. Huw Bell will continue to be involved in the project to ensure its successful delivery.
