Repowering specialist Cube Green Energy has successfully acquired a 125MW onshore wind and solar portfolio, consisting of 12 projects across Europe. These recent acquisitions in 2023 primarily focus on Cube Green Energy’s core markets in Germany and France, significantly boosting the company’s installed capacity to 150MW of operational assets.
The newly acquired portfolio holds a repowering potential exceeding 300MW, with ongoing development efforts aiming to replace older and less efficient wind turbines with cutting-edge power generation technology. Once the repowering process is complete, these project sites are poised to supply clean energy to over 200,000 households in Germany and France.
Cube Green Energy plans to enhance the efficiency of the repowering sites by implementing co-located PV solar and utility-scale battery storage systems, maximizing the energy contribution to the local grid.
In addition to its recent acquisitions, Cube Green Energy is actively pursuing over 1500MW of potential onshore wind and PV solar farms in various stages of development across continental Europe, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Poland.
As part of its growth strategy in 2023, Cube Green Energy has expanded its team, with new hires in France and Spain. The company has also opened offices in Hamburg and Madrid, complementing its existing offices in Berlin and London.
Chief executive of Cube Green Energy, Raghuveer Kurada, commented “2023 has been a memorable year for Cube Green Energy as we expanded our renewable asset portfolio in Germany and France and progressed our repowering strategy.”
“The rapid deployment of high efficiency renewable energy assets across Continental Europe remains a key priority of government policy and utility-scale battery storage will be critical to ensure grid stability and the provision of 24/7 renewable power. Cube Green Energy is proud to play a role in contributing towards this critical mission.”
