Consultations scheduled by Coriolis and ESB

Coriolis Energy and ESB have scheduled pre-application consultations for their Y Bryn onshore wind farm in Wales, which has a capacity of 130MW.

The wind turbines are planned to be located in two sections of Welsh Government Woodland Estate managed by Natural Resources Wales, primarily within Neath Port Talbot County Borough.

This announcement comes after two previous rounds of consultations conducted in 2021 regarding the initial proposals. The developers are once again seeking local input and feedback through the Pre-Application Consultation phase of the project.

Several revisions have been made since the initial proposals, including a reduction in the number of turbines from 21 to 18.

Some turbines have also been modified to reduce their height, and others have been relocated to minimize their impact on the landscape and the visual aspect of Bryn village and the surrounding communities.

In addition to these updates, further information has been released regarding the community benefit and local ownership program, as well as a dedicated fund for enhancing recreational infrastructure. The construction process and environmental considerations are also detailed.

The first consultation event is scheduled for June 12, followed by additional events on June 13, 14, 16, and 17. The deadline for submitting comments and feedback on the Pre-Application Consultation is July 17, 2023.

Y Bryn Project Manager, Trevor Hunter, said “We are excited to be bringing the draft application to Pre-Application Consultation after we have had so much interest and engagement throughout the process so far.”

“We’re looking forward to hearing the feedback following the refinements we have made to the project, and we are proud of the final proposals, and we look forward to discussing these with the local communities at the public exhibitions.”
