CIP and Myrsky 1.8GW Finnish wind partnership

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Myrsky Energia (Myrsky) have announced a collaboration to develop over 1800MW of onshore wind power in Finland.

Through this partnership, Finland aims to become a frontrunner in the European energy transition and make significant progress towards its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, according to CIP.

This strategic alliance aligns with CIP’s approach of investing in projects that bring about substantial advancements in scale and speed of development necessary to meet ambitious government targets.

In addition to contributing to Finland’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions, the wind power portfolio will enhance energy security, stimulate local economies, and create employment opportunities, resulting in increased tax revenues for the communities involved.

Notably, this investment by CIP represents their first foray into onshore wind power projects in the Nordic region.

Partner in CIP, Nischal Agarwal, said “We believe Finland has excellent conditions for large scale onshore wind projects and a significant ambition to decarbonise by 2035 and achieve energy security.”

“We are pleased to partner with Myrsky who is a leading renewables developer in Finland and we look forward to our cooperation and combining our expertise to participate in Finland’s energy transition.”

Founder of Myrsky, Tuomas Candelin-Palmqvist, added “We are delighted to partner with CIP to accelerate the delivery of Myrsky’s wind power projects over the coming years.”

“On a global scale, Finland has unique onshore wind energy potential to produce renewable electricity.”

“Green energy investments can create industry-scale business opportunities, local welfare, and employment as well as boost our energy security.”

“Renewable energy is the new welfare industry for Finland.”
