    Atlantic Green activates 30MW BESS

Atlantic Green has initiated the activation of its 30MW Buxton battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Derbyshire, UK. The BESS boasts an energy capacity of 61.8MWh, allowing for sustained power output for up to two hours during periods of peak energy demand.

This marks the beginning of a series of BESS projects for Atlantic Green, with a total capacity of over 1GWh currently in various stages of development. Among these projects are the Cellarhead BESS, which will have a capacity exceeding 600MWh, and Project T, with an estimated capacity of 270MWh. Atlantic Green is a joint venture between Nofar Energy and Interland.

Nick Bradford, Atlantic Green managing director, said โ€œWe are delighted to announce the energisation of our Buxton BESS Project. Buxton BESS will contribute to improving grid stability and pave the way for a greener and more sustainable energy future.”

โ€œWe take pride in contributing to Derbyshire’s efforts in tackling climate challenges and supporting the UK in reaching its net zero targets, ensuring energy security for the future.โ€
