A partnership between Greenvolt and BlueFloat Energy has been established to create offshore wind projects in Portugal.
Portugal has a significant offshore wind potential, which is now acknowledged by national policymakers who want to harness this technology’s potential to meet the nation’s decarbonization ambitions, according to the pair.
To realise this ambition, Greenvolt and BlueFloat Energy have come together.
While BlueFloat Energy offers considerable technical knowledge in floating offshore wind and a distinct understanding of floating technology, Greenvolt adds local development and permitting expertise as well as a strong local brand recognition.
The stock exchange-listed Greenvolt Group presently does business in three sectors: residual biomass, utility-scale solar and wind, and distributed generation.
Chief executive of the Greenvolt Group, João Manso Neto, said “Greenvolt has a differentiating strategy for utility scale solar and wind projects, focusing on the development phase.”
“Through this partnership with BlueFloat Energy, one of the leading offshore wind developers with a unique hands-on experience in floating technology, Greenvolt maintains its strategic positioning now expanding to the offshore wind segment In Portugal.”
Carlos Martin, BlueFloat Energy’s chief executive, added “Entering the Portuguese market is a natural extension of our floating wind strategy for southern Europe.”
“We are delighted to partner with Greenvolt, one of the leaders in renewable energy in Portugal and a fast-growing company that shares our development philosophy and a strategic vision for offshore wind in this key market.”
