WindSpace, a Danish developer of renewable energy, has acquired a minority share from Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund.
Sonja de Ruiter, senior investment manager of Triodos, also joins the developer’s board of directors as a result of the transaction.
Since 2006, WindSpace has been developing onshore wind and solar projects in Europe, and in its key markets of Poland and Croatia, it has “concretely identified” potential.
Fund Manager at Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund, Vincent van Haarlem said “We are very excited about this new cooperation with such an experienced wind and solar park developer as WindSpace.”
“Through this investment we will contribute to the energy transition in markets that are complementary to the fund’s current exposure, making this an excellent addition to the existing portfolio.”
Jens Elton Andersen, WindSpace chief executive, added “WindSpace envisions a world that runs entirely on green energy and contributes to this goal by being at the forefront of developing green field solar and wind park projects in European growth markets.”
“We have a lean and dynamic approach to developing our utility-scale project pipeline in close collaboration with our local partners which enables significant scalability opportunities.”
“The strategic partnership and equity investment by Triodos Energy Transition Europe Fund provides an optimal match for WindSpace. It is the next step in fulfilling our strategic aims of boosting the green energy transition in Europe.”
