78MW PPA secured by EDPR in Greece

A long-term PPA has been negotiated between EDP Renewables (EDPR) and Mytilineos – Energy & Metals for the green energy generated by a 78MW wind portfolio.

This PPA for energy produced by a wind portfolio is a first for Mytilineos and EDPR in Greece.

The agreement enables EDPR to accelerate the development of the three wind projects comprising this 78MW portfolio.

This consists of the Voiotia 23MW project, the Achaia 21MW site, and the Voiotia 35MW project.

Under the terms of this PPA, all of the wind farms are anticipated to go up between the end of 2024 and 2025, and they are anticipated to produce more than 232GWh annually.

Yiannis Kalafatas, Chief executive director of Mytilineos’ Energy Sector,  said “We are excited about this new transaction with EDPR that marks its first PPA and one of the first wind PPAs in Greece.”

“Mytilineos is committed to enrich its portfolio with renewable energy at competitive prices, as it evolves into an international integrated energy utility.”

With the acquisition of this new portfolio, EDPR currently has 11.2GW of the 20GW global goal additions set forth in the 2021–25 Business Plan.

With the help of this deal, EDPR will be able to surpass the 6.7GW objective for new renewable capacity additions in Europe between 2021 and 25 by more than 3.6GW.

Dionysios Andronas, General director of EDPR Greece, added “This PPA is a milestone for our business activity and demonstrates our commitment to renewable energy and the Greek market.”

“We are pleased to collaborate with a relevant partner as Mytilineos and we will continue to seek new opportunities to foster the adoption of renewables in Greece and provide solutions for the energy transition.”
