ESB, Irish utility, and Orsted have reached a significant agreement to collaborate on the development of a portfolio of offshore wind projects in Ireland.
Under this landmark deal, Orsted will become an equal partner with ESB, sharing a 50/50 stake in a series of offshore wind development initiatives along the Irish coast.
This partnership has the potential to generate up to 5GW of renewable energy, along with complementary projects involving renewable hydrogen. The first of these offshore wind projects is anticipated to participate in the upcoming Irish offshore wind auction, known as ORESS 2.1.
In addition to the immediate goals, the partnership also includes provisions for exploring opportunities related to renewable hydrogen derived from these projects in the long run.
